Birmingham Heritage Week was a remarkable celebration for us at the Birmingham Assay Office! From unique collaborations to historical insights, the week was packed with excitement, and we are thrilled to share some of the highlights.

Team Spirit and Charity in Action

On Friday, 6th September, we kicked off our festivities with an exhilarating static bike race, hosted in partnership with Hockley Mint. This event was not only a great way to boost team morale but also supported two vital charities: Midlands Air Ambulance and The Benevolent Society. The enthusiasm and friendly competition brought our employees together, all for a worthy cause.

A Journey Through History

Throughout the week, our employees had the opportunity to visit the original Assay Office on Newhall Street. For many, this was a nostalgic return to where it all began, while others discovered the office’s rich history for the first time. The visit was a poignant reminder of how much the Birmingham Assay Office has grown and evolved over the years, while staying true to its heritage and core values.

The Birmingham Heritage Event – A Midweek Highlight

The highlight of the week’s celebrations took place on Wednesday, 11th September, with our much-anticipated Birmingham Heritage Event. We were delighted to welcome over 150 attendees who enjoyed insightful talks, live music, and plenty of networking opportunities. This event gave us a fantastic platform to showcase our expertise and engage with the local community, leaving everyone with a deeper understanding of our work and history.

Our special thanks go to our six guest speakers, including Dr. Matt Cole, Tony Kelly, and Simon Topman, who captivated the audience with their in-depth knowledge and passion for Birmingham’s industrial heritage.

Fundraising Success

We are incredibly proud to announce that we raised £525 for the Midlands Air Ambulance and The Benevolent Society. From the Silver Talk to the delightful afternoon tea sessions, the generosity of our attendees was outstanding, and their contributions will go a long way in supporting these wonderful charities.

Music, Food, and More

The live performances from the talented musicians of the Conservatoire added a wonderful energy to the event, and our heartfelt thanks go to Celebration Catering for providing a feast that truly elevated the experience.

Exclusive Launches

During the week, we also launched two exciting new products – our exclusive Anchor Mugs and the Heritage 2024 whistle, developed in collaboration with Acme Whistles. Both items were extremely popular, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.

Thank You!

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of Birmingham Heritage Week. From our hardworking team and generous donors to our inspiring speakers and attendees, this week would not have been the same without you. We look forward to continuing our legacy and welcoming you all to our next event!
