Empowering the Jewellery Trade: A Successful Week of Learning at Birmingham Assay Office
This week (1st October 2024) at Birmingham Assay Office Academy, we had the privilege of hosting two insightful courses: Understanding Plating and UK Hallmarking Explained. Sharing knowledge and helping others deepen their understanding of these key industry processes is something we’re truly passionate about.
Understanding Plating Course
On Tuesday, our Technical Director, Dippal Manchanda, led another successful session of the highly popular Understanding Plating course with 15 participants, including one joining us online all the way from China. Dippal has been delivering this course since 2010, providing tailored knowledge for buyers, technologists, and quality assurance professionals across the fine and fashion jewellery sectors, as well as those working with metal-plated accessories.
As Dippal shared: “Each session reinforces the importance of robust plating standards in delivering high-quality, durable products. It’s rewarding to see professionals eager to refine their knowledge and elevate standards globally. Together, we are shaping the future of the jewellery industry.”
UK HALLMARKING EXPLAINED
On Wednesday, our Commercial Manager, Marie Brennan, hosted the UK Hallmarking Explained course online as part of the Birmingham Assay Office Academy. It was a fantastic session aimed at anyone in the jewellery trade looking to learn more about hallmarking. Marie covered everything from how Assay Offices work to the latest hallmarking legislation, the International Hallmarking Convention, and even some insights into current trends in the UK jewellery market.
Thank you to everyone who attended this week. We’re thrilled to hear that the feedback for both courses has been overwhelmingly positive. We’re committed to continuing to provide valuable learning opportunities and supporting the growth of our industry.
